About This Activity
Bewl Water is one of the premier inland sailing venues in the South East, with over 770 acres of water to sail, windsurf, and wingfoil. Day passes: £20 (adult), £10 (child 11-18), free (junior 5-10). Annual memberships start from £150 and include 10% off at the Waterfront Café plus 20% off a range of activities. Wingfoiling and windsurfing pricing matches sailing. Wing-foiling tuition is delivered by The Foiling Collective. Active clubs include the Bewl Sailing Association (weekly racing), the Midweekers (summer and winter), Mariners of Bewl (adaptive sailing, Saturdays April to October) and the Optimists junior group. What to Bring
- Buoyancy aid (50 newtons minimum, or impact vest for windsurfing/wingfoiling)
- Leash (for wing boards)
- Helmet recommended for windsurfing/wingfoiling
- Change of clothes
- Towel
- Shoes that can get wet
Safety Information
Sailing helms must hold RYA Level 2 Basic Skills or RYA Stage 3. Windsurfers must hold the RYA Start Windsurfing qualification. Public liability insurance is required for all independent sailors, windsurfers and wingfoilers. All sailors must sign in at the Fishing Lodge before launching to collect their wristband for the day, and sign out on return. Under-18s must be accompanied by an adult. A buoyancy aid of at least 50 newtons (or an impact vest for windsurfing/wingfoiling) must be worn at all times on the water: buoyancy belts are not permitted. Restrictions apply when wind exceeds Force 3. Swimming in the reservoir is strictly prohibited. Emergency number: 07767 375 115.
