Bewl Water Rules and Regulations Handbook
Proof of Public liability insurance is required for all users of the reservoir, whether members or day pass holders.
Bewl Sailing Association is pleased to announce that it will be operating a patrol boat at Bewl Water this summer, from 6th June to 25th August 2018.
Session times are:
- Wednesday evenings from 18:00 to 21:00 or half an hour before sunset
- Saturday afternoons from 12:00 to 16:00
Our patrol boat helms and crews will carry VHF radios and act as eyes-on-the-water. They may provide assistance so, if you'd like to take advantage of this support, you just need to stay within sight of the orange commando.
The site owners Bewl Water are responsible for safety on the water and all sailors must adhere to their Rules and Regulations, as published on their website https://www.bewlwater.co.uk/water-sports/
Oppies at Bewl Water
We are actively growing a group of young sailors from beginners to advanced racers.
Our philosophy is to give children from both sailing and non-sailing families the opportunity to develop a love of sailing within a friendship group that starts from beginners and evolves into a team that helps and supports each other at events on the National circuit. The team includes boys and girls from 8 to 15 ranging in standard from beginners to children in the UK National Squad. They are supported by qualified instructors and coaches competing at an International level and for those that don’t yet have their own boat we also have a limited supply of boats for hire.
If you’re interested in learning more about what we’re doing please visit our website www.bbsc.org.uk or contact Will (07976 886687) or Richard (07710 148359)
If you would like to take part in group-canoeing events at the reservoir then joining Bewl Canoe Club might be for you. The club welcomes people of all ages and experience and is suited to all levels.

Rowing is only available through the Bewl Bridge Rowing Club (BBRC) who offer coaching and tuition as well as have a number of boats available. BBRC is very much a 'club for all' with a great positive and supportive atmosphere. Members range in age from 11 to 78 and there’s a large Junior section, a competitive Ladies’ and Men's squad and a thriving Masters contingent.

Paddleboards are permitted on our water here providing users comply with our health and safety regulations. SUP users at Bewl Water must obtain private Stand up Paddleboard Insurance which covers third party liability. Prior to launching all paddleboarders must visit the fishing shop to display a copy of their insurance for proof of cover and sign on in the sailing club room. Users will then have the choice of purchashing a day launch pass or annual membership from the fishing shop. Paddleboarders must also wear a buoyancy aid at all times whilst on the water and stay within view of the fishing shop where the water is monitored.
Paddleboarders may launch from the beach area next to the sailing slipway.
