More than a hundred people took the opportunity to get on the water when they attended Push the Boat Out at Bewl Water recently.

The free event, organised by Bewl Sailing Association (BSA) and the Mariners of Bewl, welcomed people of all ages to a taster of life on the water aboard a Wayfarer dingy.

After a safety briefing and being fitted with a regulation buoyancy aids, the 108 eager sailors experienced 20 minute introductions to sailing, accompanied by a qualified helmsman.

Lee Stillwell, Events Manager at Bewl Water Country Park, said: “The feedback from the event has been fantastic and we understand it could be repeated in July.

“Bewl is the perfect place to learn to sail and I’d like to offer a big thank you to all the organisers and other safety teams for making it such a success.”
