Open Water Swimming Sessions & Prices

Open water swimming sessions at Bewl Water are designed to cater to both seasoned swimmers and newcomers.

  • Sessions cost £8 for 90 minutes and will run every Saturday from 9am – 10:30am.
  • Please note, our last open water swimming session for 2025 is on 25th October. We will reopen for 2026 on January 1st for our New Years Day swim.
  • Pre-booking is essential and you must arrive with plenty of time to get changed and participate in a 10-minute safety induction.

Wild Swimming Health and Safety

At Bewl Water, your safety is our top priority when it comes to open water swimming.

All swimmers are required to complete an induction with our lifeguards and fill out a safety questionnaire before their session. Please ensure you arrive at least 10 minutes early to allow time for this process. This requirement applies even if you have taken part in open water swimming with us before.

Please read the following safety requirements carefully before making a booking.

  • Tow floats: These are required for all swimmers and you MUST bring your own. If you do not own one, you can hire one in advance for £3 during ticket purchase (Please note, we only have a limited number available for hire). 
  • Brightly coloured swim hats: These are required for all swimmers and you MUST bring your own.
  • Wetsuits: Wetsuits are mandatory for all participants at present whilst the water temperature is less than 16°. Please note that swimmers must bring their own wetsuits, as we do not provide them on-site. 
  • Minimum age: Swimmers must be at least 14 years old. Proof of age is required, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult in the water. 
  • Coaching: While we do not offer coaching, our facilities are ideal for both training sessions and leisurely swims. All sessions are supervised by fully qualified Open Water Swimming Lifeguards with support from the Hastings and St Leonards Voluntary Lifeguard Club. 

Food, Drink & Facilities

After your open water swimming session, why not sit back and relax with stunning reservoir views? With changing facilities and food and drink options, you can extend your visit and make the most of your time here.

  • Pizza Nights: Join us at the Waterfront Café every Friday, Saturday and Bank Holiday Sunday from 5–8pm for freshly made pizzas and your favourite bar drinks with stunning reservoir views. Available to eat in, or take away!
  • Refreshments: Enjoy a variety of treats and hearty meals from our Waterfront Cafe, pop-up cafe, and Ice Cream Parlour. 
  • Showers: On-site showers are available to refresh and rinse off after your swim.

Parking

Free parking is included during your open water swimming session. To redeem this, please enter your registration number when booking and follow the signs to the water sports car park. After your swim, standard parking charges will apply. You can use the RingGo app or pay by cash or card in the Waterfront Cafe.
