Getting involved in Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an international campaign which falls on the entire month of October each year. The campaign is organised by major cancer charities with the aim of increasing awareness of the disease and raising money for research. Not only does the campaign raise money for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the illness, it also offers support to those fighting breast cancer. To be a part of the month, read how we think you could raise awareness…

  • Attend charity days or events

One easy way to partake in the worthwhile cause is to attend charity days or events. Lots of businesses will host their own events in aid of the cause and these are a great way to raise funds, plus it leaves the organising to the professionals. For example, throughout October, One Warwick Park Hotel in Tunbridge Wells are offering a Think Pink Afternoon Tea where £2 from each tea goes to charity.

  • Get sponsored!

Whether you want to run a marathon or stay silent for 24 hours, doing something sponsored is a fun way to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness month. At Bewl Water, we have a 12 ½ mile scenic walk route which is open to walkers and runners all year round. Why not try a sponsored walk with the family this October? Once you’ve finished there is always the option to hop aboard a Water Taxi and do the rest of the journey in style!

  • Speak up and share

Speak, like, share and shout if you have to. In a world with many social media and technology platforms, there are a plethora of ways to share your message and create awareness. This month use your own following or voice to make people listen.
