BEWL WATER TROUT FISHERY 2010

BEWL WATER is one of England’s finest and most attractive trout fisheries with boat fishing on much of Bewl’s 770 acres from the fleet of 54 well-maintained boats, and bank fishing accessible on more than half of the lake’s 17-mile shoreline. Bewl's beautiful Wealden surroundings and intricate shape appeal both to those who like the intimacy of secluded and sheltered bays, and to those who appreciate the huge expanses and panoramic views experienced only on the larger stillwater fisheries.

SPRING SPECIAL: Bewl Water is pleased to offer boat hire at the following reduced prices until 30/06/2010

Day Motor for 2 anglers £25.00
Day Motor for single angler £15.00

Evening Motor for 2 anglers £20.00
Evening Motor for single angler £10.00

Bewl is famed for its quality home-reared rainbows which are trickle stocked into the lake throughout the season and 2009 will be even more exciting as stocks of brown trout will be boosted and over 800 hard fighting muscular blue trout averaging over 2.25lbs have already been stocked.

2010 Update see Fishing Reports and News

These Blue Trout are easily distinguished from normal rainbows by their bright silver underside and striking blue topside.

2009 was a landmark year in Bewl's 32-year history as Bewl Water Management, the fishery's new owner, embarked upon a 10-point improvement strategy which was developed in consultation with Bewl Bridge Flyfishers.  The full strategy can be downloaded from the Fishing Reports and News page and promises to firmly anchor Bewl amongst the country's leading fisheries.

Flyfishing is a peaceful sport, away from the hustle and bustle of modern life – and you can keep your catch so, with luck, you may take supper home!  The lake is stocked with superb quality home-reared trout which, when caught, often weigh over two pounds and sometimes are much heavier. The fishery record for Rainbow Trout is 18lbs 10ozs and for Brown Trout is 14lbs 10ozs.

All are welcome at the Fishing Lodge where friendly staff will give you information and advice, and newcomers will receive all the assistance they need. The Lodge stocks a wide range of flies and tackle, waterproof clothing and wellies, and is open 7 days per week from 0830hrs to 1800hrs during the season which starts on 21st March.
