Dragon Boat Festival 2015
12th September 2015
Dragon Boat Festival 2015.
The Dragon Boat Festival at Bewl Water is a unique opportunity for a great family day out.
The dragon boat races take place on the water throughout the day on 12th September 2015, starting at 10am and finishing at around 4pm with the 12-boat grand final. Just come down to the water’s edge and watch all the colourful action. Teams of 16 paddlers, plus a drummer and a helm, will be competing for the annual trophy in a series of time trials over the 250-metre course.
But there’s more to the Festival than the dragon boat races. The Bewl Water site that looks onto the water is full of tents and marquees with many running stalls selling cakes and other goodies, running competitions, and generally full to bursting with people in interesting and unusual fancy dress!
There will also be a funfair, go-karts, bouncy castles, and many other activities to keep the children amused.
And if you get hungry or thirsty, there’s no shortage of food and drink to replenish your energy levels.
Just head to Bewl Water (TN3 8JH for satnavs) on the 12th September 2015.
Everyone is welcome, and we look forward to seeing you there!
The 12th September 2015 will see the 18th annual Dragon Boat Festival at Bewl Water. The 2014 event raised almost £100,000 for over 50 different charities. More than 1,000 people competed in an amazing display of paddle power, excitement and fun. Since the event began in 1998, over £2.4 million has been raised for more than 320 local, national and international charities.
This is your opportunity to be part of this fantastic event
Crews of 16 paddlers (plus a drummer) race in Chinese-style Dragon Boats over a 250-metre course. Crews do not need to be super fit or skilled to be successful - all that's required is teamwork and a good sense of fun!
